PETALING JAYA: It is the French connection for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).
The local football giants have officially entered into a partnership with the world famous football club that play in Ligue 1– Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The latest development was shared by the Southern Tigers squad through an update on their website yesterday.
PSG are currently leading the Ligue 1 standings in France.
“His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail, Acting Sultan of Johor and owner of the Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club held a meeting with the delegation of Paris Saint-Germain led by Daniel Markham, chief of staff to Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG where a principal agreement was reached to establish cooperation between the French Ligue 1 champion and JDT,” said the team.
“Among the aspects discussed include ‘multi-club partnership’ with football clubs owned by Qatar Sports Investments, grassroots football development, infrastructure, branding as well as expertise and technology sharing.’’
In the same development, Tunku Mahkota Ismail was also given the honour of witnessing the team’s latest project.
“Tunku Mahkota Ismail also received an invitation from Nasser Al-Khelaifi to Paris to visit PSG’s new training centre and attend matches at the Parc des Princes,” he said.
In addition to being the home of PSG since 1974, the Parc des Princes has staged matches for the French national football and rugby teams as well as major international competitions including the 1998 football World Cup and the 2016 Euro championship.
