PETALING JAYA: Negri Sembilan finally got their first home win in the Super League after seven attempts.
The Deers etched out a hard-fought 2-1 win against Pahang at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi on Friday (Jan 10).
The Elephants got the first goal in the eighth minute when Negri’s Nigerian centre-back Aliyu Abubakar scored an own goal.
Towards the end of the first half, Negri equalised when Myanmar winger Hein Htet Aung scored in the 45th minute.
Mercurial winger A. Selvan scored the match-winner in the 59th minute. Before this tie, Negri were winless in their last six home games, with the last one being a 0-4 defeat against Selangor.
The win sees Negri moving to 12th with nine points in the standings, while Pahang remain 10th with 15 points.
In the other Super League game, Kedah beat Kelantan 1-0 at the Darulaman Stadium, with winger Fayyadh Zulkifli scoring the only goal in the 17th minute.
Kelantan dropped to 13th with seven points, while Kedah moved to sixth with 20 points.
