PETALING JAYA: With seven more games to go, Johor Darul Ta’zim are in a comfortable position to capture the Super League title yet again but coach Hector Bidoglio does not want to think about it.

In fact, he does not want his players to take it easy as he believes the competitions would get tougher.

On Saturday, the Southern Tigers hammered Sabah 4-0 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri with strikers Juan Muniz (51st, 68th) and Bergson Da Silva (78th 82nd) scoring two each.

JDT have 49 points from 17 matches, taking a 14-point lead from Selangor, proving that their bid for an 11th consecutive title is getting closer.

“Let’s not think about the league title first. We have seven more games and not to forget the Malaysia Cup and AFC Champions League Elite as well. These are going to be tough for us,” he said.

“It was a very difficult and challenging match against Sabah because in the first half, we did not perform well, and the ball control was not up to par, in addition to the players’ average positioning.

“But in the second half, the players began to play without pressure and were more patient when attacking and improved their positional play.

“We want that form to be there in the upcoming games as we continue to develop as a team.”

Their next game in the league will be against Terengganu at the Gong Badak Stadium on Jan 17.

Meanwhile, Sabah coach Martin Stano said the difference between both sides was the quality of the players.

“Sabah have quality players too and I’m proud of them, but JDT are on another level,” said the Slovakian.

Sabah remained third in the league with 29 points from 16 games.
