PETALING JAYA: Australian Dylan Wenzel-Halls (pic) may have scored his first hattrick as a professional footballer but his treble for Penang in their Super League match against Perak on Saturday came with a sore point.
The Panthers had to settle for a 3-3 draw in the northern derby, and the result drew mixed emotions from the 27-year-old striker.
“It’s a special moment to be able to experience a hattrick as a striker. It was a milestone in my career,” said the former Central Coast Mariners player.
“But it was disappointing not to grab full points to go with my three goals.”
A win was something that Penang badly needed, as they lie 11th in the league with 15 points from 17 games.
Wenzel-Halls has played nine Super League games, scoring four goals and providing two assists but he’s more focused on helping the team move up in the standings.
Penang have a Challenge Cup semi-final first-leg encounter with Selangor at the City Stadium in Georgetown on Jan 19, and expectations will be higher on Wenzel-Halls after his recent goalscoring exploits.
He is game for the challenge but hopes that the outcome this time will be a victory for the team.
‘’I’ll keep scoring as many goals as I can but my hope is to see the team win more games and also get a shot at winning a trophy.’’
