PETALING JAYA: Kuching City mounted a fightback with two goals in the space of one minute to hold Terengganu 2-2 in their Super League encounter at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak on Friday (Feb 21).
Terengganu’s Filipino midfielder Manuel Ott broke the deadlock as early as the eighth minute with an exquisite freekick from 25 metres.
Then they got their second in the 59th minute through Nigerian striker Ismaheel Akinade.
Kuching produced a gallant fightback by scoring two goals through Ghanaian striker Jordan Mintah (64th minute) and Namibian striker Petrus Shitembi (65th).
But the away side were down to 10 men in the 76th minute when wingback Filemon Anyie Standly was given a straight red card.
Terengganu could not capitalise on that advantage as Kuching got a valuable away point from Gong Badak.
The Turtles remained fourth with 28 points from 19 games, while Kuching jumped to fifth with 24 points from 18 matches.
Meanwhile, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah were held 1-1 by Kuala Lumpur at the Likas Stadium.
The game, which was supposed to start at 7.15pm, was delayed for almost two hours due to torrential downpours and eventually started at 9pm.
The home side got an early goal in the seventh minute through winger S Kumaahran but the City Boys got their equaliser in the 81st minute through winger Haqimi Azim Rosli.
Sabah remains third with 34 points from 19 matches, while Kuala Lumpur is seventh with 22 points from 19 games.
