PETALING JAYA: Malaysian amateur Ashley Lau has successfully negotiated the first hurdle in her bid to join the professional ranks.

The United States-based golfer cleared Stage I of the LPGA Qualifying School for a share of seventh spot with six others on 10-under 278.
