PETALING JAYA: Mirabel Ting continued to make heads turn in her sophomore year with Florida State University after finishing in a tie for eighth at the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur in United States.
Mirabel finished with a two-over 74 for a three-round total of one-over 217 in the final round on Saturday at the famed Augusta National Golf Club course.
The 18-year-old had earlier played her way into the history books as the first Malaysian to make the cut for the final after rounds of 69 and 74 in her first career appearance in the Augusta National.
"Thank you Augusta National. It's been a dream as a kid to be able to play in this prestigious event.
"A top 10 finish and I've learnt a lot from this event," said Mirabel.
She is the fifth Malaysian to qualify for the event.
Loy Hee Ying and Alyaa Abdulghany participated in the 2019 event, with the latter returning for last year's edition.
Ashley Lau featured in the 2022 edition while Jeneath Wong competed last year. But none of them made the cut until Mirabel's turn this year.
