Eagle helps Japan’s Saigo soar to the top in LPGA Shanghai Open

SHANGHAI: A strong back nine capped by an eagle on the par-five 17th hole propelled Japan’s Mao Saigo (pic) into a one-stroke lead yesterday heading into the final round at the LPGA Shanghai Open.

Finishing with a seven-under 65, the 23-year-old edged out surging home hope Yin Ruoning, the highest-ranked player in the field and who shot a stunning 63 in her third round.
