KUALA LUMPUR: It was only supposed to be a learning trip for teenage Malaysian golfer Mirabel Ting as this after all was an LPGA event with eight of the world’s top 10 players in Kuala Lumpur.

But somehow Mirabel, the only amateur playing in the Maybank Championship this week, did the unthinkable.
