Scorching heat too hot for Ashley to handle

Not swinging up to par: Ashley Lau endured a mixed round of three birdies against four bogeys to sit in 73rd position.

The 24-year-old, who represented Malaysia at the Paris Olympics in August, struggled with a one-over 73 on the opening day of the Maybank Championships at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club yesterday.
