PETALING JAYA: It was not meant to be. Malaysia’s Tan Fu Jie, who had needed a top-three finish in the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) World Cup in Melbourne to keep his Olympics hopes alive, fell two rungs short.

The 23-year-old could only finish fifth in the pommel horse final with 13.400 points.
