TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese Olympic newcomer Daiki Hashimoto on Wednesday claimed the men's all-around gymnastics crown, proving a worthy heir to countryman "King Kohei" Uchimura, the two-time Olympic champion he followed, and extending a proud Japanese sporting legacy.

Hashimoto punched the air and grinned after finishing a spectacular horizontal bar routine, giving his nation a third consecutive gymnastics all-around gold - a continuity they haven't achieved for nearly half a century.
