Marissa glad to overcome bumpy ride prior to gymnastics meet


PETALING JAYA: National artistic gymnast Marissa Zaiful Azlan faced challenging odds in the recently-concluded JRC Stars Artistic Gymnastics Championships, but she defied expectations and sprang a surprise.

The 16-year-old Marissa won gold medals in three events – girls’ team, vault and uneven bars – in the second edition of the tournament, which ended on Saturday at the Island Hall in Bangkok, Thailand.
