KUALA LUMPUR: National women's hockey player Hanis Nadiah Onn says she accepts the decision of the National Sports Council and Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) suspending her from representing the country at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games in May.
Her suspension followed alleged racist comments related to Indian singer and composer AR Rahman's concert in the capital last month.

Hanis Nadiah said she was determined not to repeat her mistake, and reminded her fellow athletes to always be careful with their social media posts.
Although disappointed, the 26-year-old said she was committed to pursuing the championship for Negri Sembilan in the 2023 Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) campaign.
"As a professional athlete, I will put aside (this matter), and I am committed to my club because it looks after my well-being. I also respect the club and the MHC.

"If I perform well in the league and the association gives me the opportunity again (to represent the country), I will prove that I am still relevant as a national representative,” she said after the 2023 Women's MHL Charity Shield match here on Thursday (Feb 9) night.
Hanis Nadiah, who was also the 2016 Asian Player of the Year, played for Negri against Uniten Thunder.
Negri won the match 2-1 in a penalty shootout. – Bernama
