Amin’s boys give Belgium a run for their money before shootout loss

Malaysia's Jeffrynus Andywalfian controls the ball in their match against Belgium at the National Hockey Stadium yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia finally showed that they are capable of playing top class hockey after taking Belgium to the distance before losing the shootout in the ninth-12th classification at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

A heavy downpour had halted the match after the first half for 40 minutes but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the Young Tigers fought back from 0-2 down to pull off a 2-2 draw in regulation time but a steadier Belgium nailed the shootout 5-3 to frustrate the hosts.
