PETALING JAYA: The versatility of Syafiq Hassan has helped the defender to seal a place in the national hockey squad for the Asian Champions Trophy in Inner Mongolia, China, from Sept 8-17.

The return of veteran defender Faiz Helmi Jali means Syafiq will have to find another position to fit into the team and the latter’s ability to play in midfield has made selection easy for national head coach Sarjit Singh.
