Penalty points propel lucky McPhee to a podium finish

PETALING JAYA: Pennies from heaven fell on John McPhee as penalty points propelled the Petronas Sprinta Racing Team rider from the sixth placing to third in Moto3 of the Austrian MotoGP.

Due to time penalties handed out to Darryn Binder of South Africa, Ai Ogura of Japan and Celestino Vietti of Italy for exceeding track limits during the race, the Scotsman McPhee moved up to the last spot on the podium in the world motorcycling leg at the Red Bull Ring Circuit in Austria yesterday.
