That scenario came closer to reality on Thursday when golf was recommended for inclusion in the 2016 Summer Games, along with the fast-paced game of rugby sevens. Baseball and softball, voted out of the games four years ago and denied reinstatement a year later, failed to make the cut from the International Olympic Committee executive board beside squash, karate and roller sports.
