Fairul and Hizlee settle for silver in lawn bowls

GLASGOW: Malaysia collected their second silver medal in lawn bowls through Mohd Fairul Izwan Muin and Mohd Hizlee Rais in the men’s pairs event on Monday.

The Malaysians had no answer to their more composed opponents from Scotland going down tamely 20–3 in the final at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre.

Nothing went right from the start for the Malaysians who trailed 12 - 0 by the sixth end. The Scots backed by a sellout home fans cruised to an easy win.

Malaysia won the first silver through the women’s pairs who lost to their counterparts from South Africa in the final on Sunday.

At the last Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the national lawn bowls squad managed a silver and a bronze.
