WHILE heavy rains and wind from Typhoon Tisoy wreaked havoc outside in Subic, mathematics student Yeoh Li Tian created a storm inside the Subic Bay Travelers Hotel by claiming the gold medal for Malaysia in the men’s rapid chess competition.

The 20-year-old, in his first Games, was glowing with pride after becoming the first Malaysian gold medallist in chess at the SEA Games stage yesterday.
