KUALA LUMPUR: A move to field new athletes for the Asean Para Games paid off handsomely as they surpassed expectations by winning 50 golds, 38 silvers and 35 bronzes to finish fourth overall on the final day of competition in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, yesterday.

The medal haul is an improvement from the previous tally of 36 golds, 20 silvers and 14 bronzes achieved in Solo last year and it augurs well for the Hangzhou Asian Para Games in October.
