Asian Games: Malaysia hits 27-medal target


HANGZHOU: Malaysia contingent have hit the 27-medal target with four days of competition remaining at the Hanzhou Asian Games, thanks to kata exponent Lovely Anne Robberth.

Lovely qualified for the women’s individual kata final to take place later on Thursday (Oct 5) afternoon after finishing on top in her second round pool.

The Sabah-born exponent scored 40.4 points and will take on Japan’s Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Kiyou Shimizu in the final.

Kiyou topped the other second round pool with 43.3 points.

Malaysia are thus assured of at least silver in the event.

The contingent already have 23 medals in the official standings and assured of getting three medals with three finalists in squash - men’s and women’s singles; and mixed doubles.
