PETALING JAYA: World champions Nur Ain Nabilah Tarmizi and Aleena Ahmad Nawawi made history for lawn bowls when they bagged the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia SAM 100Plus 2023 Athlete of the Year.

Ain and Aleena defeated the other nominees ~ national squash players and Asian Games champions S. Sivasangari and Ng Eain Yow, and two other world champions Wong Weng Son (wushu) and Natasha Roslan (bowling).
