PETALING JAYA: Do hardships make a person stronger? In the case of national triathlete Esther Joy Chen, it certainly rings true as she has reaped success in the face of adversity.

The 20-year-old, who had nursed a fractured rib, came out with guns blazing to finish with double silver medals at the Perak Multisport Festival in Marina Island Pangkor yesterday.
