PETALING JAYA: The Olympic Games returns to the City of Love after 100 years with a huge break away from tradition. Paris banned swimming in the River Seine in 1923, a year before it last hosted the Games.
Now, a century on, the city will hold the opening ceremony today outside the stadium along the scenic river, which has now been cleaned up, with even the mayor diving in for a swim to prove a point.
