Maisarah wants silat double gold farewell in final Sukma

PERLIS silat exponent Maisarah Zainal is determined to make her final appearance at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) one to remember by clinching two gold medals in the silat seni category at the City Stadium today.

The 21-year-old has her sights set on gold in the solo creative and ganda events, aiming to surpass her previous haul of one gold and one bronze from the regu and solo creative events at the 2022 edition in Kuala Lumpur.

“This time, I’m going for two golds to set a personal best,” she said.

Although this marks her first time competing in the ganda event, Maisarah is confident she can pull off a surprise against some of the top exponents from other states.

“This year, I’ve swapped the regu event for ganda. Initially, it was a bit tough, but with consistent training, I’ve grown comfortable and ready to compete,” she said.

However, Maisarah remains wary of the fierce competition, particularly from Pahang, Kedah and Selangor, and host state Sarawak, who could spring a surprise on home turf.

The pencak silat events offer 28 gold medals. — Bernama
