Bodybuilder Zmarul strikes gold in world meet

Bodybuilder Zmarul Adam has won gold for Malaysia in the World Bodybuilding Championships in Maldives.

PETALING JAYA: Zmarul Adam is Malaysian bodybuilding’s latest world champion.

The 33-year-old policeman claimed gold for Malaysia in the World Bodybuilding Championships in Maldives on Saturday.

Zmarul came out tops in the men’s below 80kg category.

He was a bronze medallist for Malaysia in the same category at the Asian Bodybuilding Championships in Indonesia in August.

Malaysia also took bronze in the men’s below 55kg through Azri Asmat Sefri.

Zmarul thus continued Malaysia’s proud tradition of producing winners on the world stage.

Syarul Azman Mahen Abdullah claimed his sixth world title in South Korea last year before announcing his retirement earlier this year.

Bodybuilders from a total of 55 countries are participating in the world meet.
