PETALING JAYA: The New Zealand Cavaliers emerged champions of the Borneo Sevens after dethroning title defenders Borneo Eagles yesterday.

The final was a nail-biting fixture at the Eagles Rugby Club in Sandakan, Sabah, as the Eagles scored their first try in the opening minute of the match.
