The Premier League is back – predictions for the new season

The English Premier League is back from its summer holiday; the transfer window has closed, the pre-season tours are complete, and fans everywhere feel the sort of optimism that comes with last season being almost forgotten while the new glistens in the (occasional) English sun. It’s hard to say which fans will have the sunniest disposition right now – those of reigning champions Manchester City? Followers of Champions League holders Liverpool? Or perhaps they of the promoted clubs who are back in the big time? I’d guess it’s not Newcastle supporters.

Liverpool kicked off with a comfortable 4-1 win against Norwich. The Reds sent a message that they are ready to go again. City just shrugged and went out and beat West Ham 5-0 the next day.
