First shot turns Hakimi into a hotshot

Runs in the family: FT’s Hakimi Zulkifli celebrates after winning the men’s 50m pistol gold.

THE first shot has turned out to be the loudest for Federal Territories shooter Hakimi Zulkifli. He gunned down the men’s 50m pistol gold on his Malaysia Games (Sukma) debut at the National Shooting Range in Subang yesterday.

The 18-year-old’s feat will surely make his policeman father Zulkifli Omar proud. Zulkifli is attached to the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Kuala Lumpur as a shooting trainer for the new recruits but he has never coached his son.
