Bryan the first Malaysian to break 53s barrier in 100m men’s butterfly

PETALING JAYA: Bryan Leong hit the right notes to become the first Malaysian swimmer to crack the 53-second barrier in the men’s 100m butterfly at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, yesterday.

Bryan was the last Malaysian swimmer in action and he swam a solid 52.96s to place second in heat 4 of the event, thus smashing his own national record of 53.02s set at the AP Race London Invitational in May.
