SWIMMER Khiew Hoe Yean got off to a great start but must surely be kicking himself for failing to break his men’s 400m freestyle national record on his Olympic debut in Paris.

The 22-year-old made a superb charge in the first 200m but could not sustain the pace and eventually finished fourth in Heat 2 on 3:51.66s at the Paris Olympic Aquatic Centre yesterday.
