(Reuters) - Rafa Nadal may not be too pleased with the level of his tennis in his first final since winning the 2022 French Open title but the injury-plagued Spaniard said it was important to avoid any damage in Bastad ahead of the Paris Olympics.

The 38-year-old, who missed almost all of 2023 with a hip problem and has been limited to six events this year because of a muscle tear and fitness issues, lost 6-3 6-2 in the Swedish Open final to Portuguese seventh seed Nuno Borges on Sunday.
