Sunway TES students’ clean sweep of best three ACCA Top Affiliates


SUNWAY TES students at Sunway College recently made the institution proud, with multiple world and Malaysian prizes achieved in the ACCA and Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) December 2020 exam sitting.

Despite the global pandemic, the excellent results of Sunway TES’ December 2020 exam sitting are certainly a testament to the consistent quality education to students, on top of achieving high passing rates.

It was a clean sweep for the three best ACCA Top Affiliates, with three Sunway TES students scoring the top three best ACCA Top Affiliates in Malaysia with their impressive exam scores.

Nur Aida Sabriena Ramli, a Yayasan TM Scholar, ranked as the first ACCA Top Affiliate in Malaysia with the highest average of 74.5% marks across the country, while Yayasan Peneraju Scholar, Iffah Chek Peei ranked second with 73.25%. Lim Xin Ying came in third with 73% marks.

The Top Affiliate title is awarded to students who achieve the highest average marks for the ACCA Strategic Professional level exam.

“I was offered a scholarship by Yayasan TM and I believe they have chosen Sunway TES for its prestigious name, not to mention its ability to produce excellent achievers in every exam sitting.

“The facilities at Sunway College are impressive, the lecturers are very helpful and the regular internal exams effectively prepare students for the finals, ” said Nur Aida Sabriena. She was also named the Malaysian Prizewinner for Taxation (MYS) in December 2018.

“Although the ACCA course is challenging and requires strong commitment to pass, it certainly provides greater job opportunities in the future. To those interested to pursue ACCA, I do recommend Sunway TES for its experienced lecturers and great facilities. I had a great time and experience for the past 3.5 years here, ” shared Iffah, a Yayasan Peneraju scholar. She was also the World Prize winner for Foundation in Taxation and Malaysian Prize winner for Advanced Financial Management.

When asked about her experience at Sunway TES, Xin Ying was grateful for the unwavering support of the lecturers.

“The lecturers are very competent and experienced in teaching. They always teach with enthusiasm and they are very well-prepared for the classes. Besides, they will also provide additional learning materials for students to gain a better understanding of the syllabus, ” said the scholar, who is also the Malaysian Prize winner for the ACCA subject Advanced Audit Assurance.

The seven other Malaysian Prize Winners are Imiey Eleena Hanim Suhaimi, Tan Yan Zhe, Venus Chua Qiong Xin, Nur Amirul Harith Bin Hishamuddin, Ng Chuan Hooi, Lim Kean Yik and Raymond Goh Khai Loon, scoring the highest in Performance Management, Financial Reporting, Financial Management, Taxation, Strategic Business Leader, Advanced Taxation and Advanced Financial Management respectively.

Ng is no stranger to winning prize awards, having received one World prize and two Malaysian prize awards.

“The ACCA programme in Sunway TES has indeed helped my growth and development both personally and professionally. It enabled me to realise my strengths and weaknesses.

“I am extremely happy and honoured to receive this award and it means a lot to me, ” said Ng.

CAT World and Malaysia’s best students

Meanwhile, Sunway TES Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) students Nur Aniess Shamida Samsul Kamil and Teong Xiao Qing earned themselves the CAT World Prize awards, with the former receiving two awards in the same sitting, by achieving the best results in their subjects globally.

Nur Aniess Shamida scored 90 marks and 93 marks for the subjects Foundations in Taxation and Foundations in Financial Management respectively, while Teong achieved 88 marks in Foundations in Audit.

“Some people may say that we are not going to make it or it will be really difficult for us to achieve something. Take it as a challenge and prove them wrong.”

“I strongly recommend Sunway TES because of the dedicated lecturers and great learning environment, a choice that you will not regret, ” said Nur Aniess Shamida, a Yayasan Peneraju scholar.

Five other students who were awarded the CAT Malaysian Prize are Aik Zi Xuan, Wu Qin Yi Arielle and Aisy Afiqah Amran, who tied with the same score of 98 marks in Maintaining Financial Records, while both Lim Wei Win and Vathennie Vasudevan achieved 96 marks in Management Information.

“This award has boosted my confidence and inspired me to work harder to reach greater heights.

“I’d like to commend Sunway TES for encouraging young achievers like myself by acknowledging our achievements.

“I am also grateful to my family for the support and having faith in me. I truly feel one step closer to achieving my dreams, ” said Vathennie, a Sunway TES-Global Leaders Scholarship recipient.

Full scholarship opportunities

Being recognised as a Platinum Status Approved Learning Partner for the 18th consecutive year since 2003, Sunway TES has produced a total of 216 World Prize Winners and 673 Malaysian Prize Winners for CAT and ACCA to date.

Sunway TES offers a full scholarship scheme to SPM and IGCSE holders with 8A results pursuing the ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) programme (previously named CAT).
