WITH 27 years of accountancy excellence, Sunway TES continues to produce students who are top in the world and the country. The institution also raises the bar for achieving an excellent overall pass rate of 80% in the June 2021 ACCA examination – surpassing the ACCA overall world pass rate by 24%.
Achieving the coveted Top in the World and Top in Malaysia prizes, twice in a single sitting, Lim Hui Ning is well on her way to fulfilling her professional goal as an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) chartered accountant.
Accomplishing her academic goal since she started her ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) in Sunway TES, the 19-year-old scored an impressive 93% in Foundation in Taxation and 83% in Foundation in Audit in the June 2021 examinations.
The ACCA FIA prize winner – who is also a Sunway TES ACCA Global Leaders scholar – says there are no shortcuts to success and if at first you don’t succeed, try, and try again.
When asked about her experience at Sunway TES, she said: “The lecturers at Sunway TES are highly dedicated and passionate. They always provide valuable feedback that helps students to improve. They have played an essential role in guiding and giving me motivations in reaching my goals.”
Meanwhile, Top in the World ACCA prize winner Ng Jia Hui, who scored 88% in Audit and Assurance examinations, believes that her success is in proportion to the hard work that she put in.
The Sunway TES Global Leaders scholar comes from a line of accountants with her father helming the chartered accountant profession and an older brother who is currently studying his ACCA at Sunway TES.
It was by his recommendation that she joined the course with Sunway TES ACCA Global leader scholarship, and it was indeed the right decision made. This is not her first Top in the World and in Malaysia win.
Lauding the lecturers for their knowledge, effort and willingness to go the extra mile – with extra classes over the weekend and answering students' questions during their time-off – she finds that her success is a direct correlation to her lecturers’ dedication.

Mindset is key

Second in the World and Top in Malaysia for Foundations in Financial Management, ACCA FIA student Rosamund Wan Ji Yao says: “I have learned beyond the value of academics. Passion in motion

Thrilled that her hard work paid off, Oh Kaiwen who ranked top three in the world and number one in Malaysia for her Financial Reporting June 2021 examinations aims to continue her hard work to achieve more in future.
“I initially thought that ACCA would be very difficult to pass and expected a stressful life awaiting me. However, I realised that as long as I have passion and enjoy the process, it is not as difficult.

The ACCA prize winner and Sunway TES Global Leaders Bursary scholar has her sights set on the audit or tax field in one of the leading professional services firms, one of which reached out to her after she received this prize.
An unexpected win, Low Xin Huey's first attempt at an ACCA paper garnered her a top score in Malaysia and eighth place in the world for her Strategic Business Leader June 2021 examinations.
She said: “Don’t be afraid and go for it. It might not be an easy path, but the efforts that you put in would eventually lead you somewhere.”

The institution matters
With the ambition to work for a leading professional services firm and later take over her father’s audit and tax advisory firm, Nicole Tan Ze Nee won the top position in Malaysia and 10th in the world for Performance Management June 2021 examinations.
Born into a family of accountants, Tan finds that the institution helps students achieve their goals.
