Respack Group of Companies complements its portfolio with the addition of face mask manufacturing
FACE masks have been all the rage since the pandemic hit.
A critical defense against the virus, along with other Covid-19 standard operating procedures, face masks are a necessity – and will remain so in the foreseeable future.
On the global front, there have been instances of shortages and people have been forced to pay exorbitant prices for questionable quality.
Some even had to physically search from shop to shop, scour the internet or turn to friends and families overseas to spare them some.
Governments in some countries even invested or encouraged local manufacturing of face masks to meet their nations’ demand.
In Malaysia, some of us may have had an experience with sub-standard quality masks or unverified sources without proper certifications.
Now, however, our Government has enforced stricter regulations of face masks sold in the market through the Medical Device Authority, which is under the purview of the Health Ministry.
As we become informed consumers, we are able to make better decisions when making purchasing decisions.
So while we arm ourselves with this personal protective equipment on a regular basis, it is important to choose the right mask that delivers optimal protection.
Homegrown company Respack Group of Companies through its subsidiary specialising in face mask manufacturing, Respack Medicare, has taken it upon itself to deliver the highest quality face masks at an affordable price.
The company has been operating at its factory in Sungai Petani, Kedah since June 2020.
“Face mask production is not a diversification for Respack but in fact, it complements the company’s existing product portfolio. Many people do not realise that face masks are made from plastic (polypropylene), a widely-used type of thermoplastic polymer,” says its managing director Wan Chia Keong.
As an established plastic manufacturer, catering to food, healthcare and industrial applications, Respack has built extensive knowledge and management capability in producing products of highest safety and quality standards to meet stringent global requirements.
“Respack is a member of Sedex, one of the world's leading ethical trade membership organisations, working with businesses to improve working conditions in global supply chains. In addition, we have attained the Brand Reputation through Compliance (BRC) certification, a globally recognised UK trade organisation that helps companies comply with food safety legislation, providing guidelines for the manufacture of safe, quality food products.”
“Respack has been working with world-leading petrochemical producers, leveraging on our expertise and advanced technology, which immediately help set us apart from other imported products and other manufacturers,” he adds.
Wan shares that the company has also invested in its own laboratory to test and conduct research and development in face masks.
He says, “The result we have achieved is that our face masks feature the highest quality in terms of safety, comfort and innovative designs.
“Our face masks manufacturing plant is audited and certified by TUV Sud Product Service GmbH to meet the standards of Medical Devices – Quality Management System EN ISO 13485:2016 and we have also achieved ASTM F2100:2019/BS EN14683:2019 product certification and registration with MDA."
Currently, Respack’s face masks are available in all major pharmacies, leading groceries centers and retailers nationwide.
It is also beginning to export face masks to Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
Respack is committed to providing Malaysian consumers with the highest quality product, ensuring total peace of mind at an affordable price.
