IOI City Mall will become Malaysia’s biggest retail mall upon completion in 2022

WITH the nation slowly gaining momentum towards recovery from the effects of the pandemic, IOI City Mall (ICM) is set to liven up the prestigious integrated development of IOI Resort City, Putrajaya as the biggest all-in-one retail, entertainment cum shopping mall in Malaysia once its ICM II is fully operational for business and tenanted by the second quarter of 2022.

IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG) chief executive officer Datuk Voon Tin Yow said, “Construction on ICM II began in 2018 and has been progressing well, despite the numerous lockdowns implemented due to the pandemic.

This new phase of ICM will add an additional 92,903 sq m (1 million sq ft) of net lettable area (NLA), bringing the total NLA to 23,2257 sq m (2.5 million sq ft).

“Despite the unpredictable market environment in recent years, we have managed to secure around 70% tenants for the new phase, and more are signing up. Those who have signed up in the group for ICM II include current and trendy brands like Best Denki, Food Empire, MajuHome, Nitori, Objet, Valiram Group and many others."

ICM is set to become the hub of the community, offering everything residents and visitors of the township would need for a day out with family and friends under one roof.

Since the opening of ICM in 2014, the mall has been enjoying a steady occupancy rate of around 98% to 99%, which is a strong indication of the confidence its tenants have towards the mall’s management. A strong mix of both local and international brands has drawn a discernible mix of customers to the mall, making it a popular weekend destination for the whole family.

ICM II is designed to let in natural light throughout its six stories with its central glass atrium while complementing the interior and exterior design of the existing mall.

Retail outlets aside, ICM II also houses a 3716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) exhibition hall, a new cinema concept with an IMAX hall as well as a modern dining arcade, complete with a new rooftop sports centre and gymnasium. A whole host of lifestyle needs is catered for here.

Shoppers would enjoy their time shopping and dining with a myriad of Asian and Western cuisine and the different entertainment attractions available within the well–lit mall.

If a day’s visit is simply not enough, there are plenty of hotel options within IOI Resort City for a staycation.

Located in the Southern Klang Valley corridor and easily accessible to major highways, IOI Resort City enjoys extremely easy connections to six major highways, with 12 ingress (or egress) points serving this development directly. It is also just a 20-minute drive to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Datuk Voon comments, “Both phases of IOI City Mall must be appreciated as part of the bigger picture of IOI Resort City, Putrajaya - master-planned as a most distinctive integrated development set over 788 acres.”

“With different sections to house various offerings, IOI Resort City is an eco-city of the future. It offers a stress-free lifestyle where one can enjoy all the conveniences of business, commerce, entertainment, shopping, relaxation and recreation, as well as accommodation, all in one location, be it for a short stay at any of our luxurious hotel brands or at your very own property here,” he added.
