A UK EDUCATION has long been held in high esteem, with a solid reputation for prestige and quality education. However, rising costs of living may be a deterrent for those considering further education there, especially now with travel and quarantine requirements.
But you can now reap the benefits of a UK education right on our own shores, as University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) makes high-quality UK education more accessible, affordable and flexible than ever.
UoRM is the international branch campus of the University of Reading UK and an excellent choice for students with IGCSE, A-Levels, UEC and other equivalent results, with the option to start their studies this coming April 2022, or later in July or September.
The modern, state-of-the-art campus in EduCity, Iskandar Johor, provides an excellent learning environment that includes IT-enabled classrooms, lecture theatre, learning resource centre and student social areas conveniently under one roof. Within EduCity’s guarded compound, students also have access to top-notch sporting facilities as well as a 24-hour student hub.
Aside from ranking in the Top 100 in the world for International Outlook by the Times Higher Education (2021), five of the university’s renowned schools and institutions are represented at UoRM including:
• Henley Business School
• School of Law
• School of the Built Environment
• School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences
• Foundation Studies and Language Institute
The degree programmes are specifically offered in professional disciplines that provide students with excellent career potential:
• Accounting and Finance
• Finance and Business Management
• Management and business
• Law
• Psychology (with or without a one year professional placement)
• Quantity surveying
• Real Estate
Further programme details can be found at reading.edu.my/programmes.
Upon graduation, students receive the identical University of Reading degree they would receive if they studied in the UK.
All programmes are designed to provide students with a head start in their chosen careers, and where applicable, carry relevant industry and professional recognition.
UoRM students also benefit from an experienced and highly-qualified academic team. In fact, 75% of the academic staff who teach on undergraduate programmes are PhD-holders.
Students can also take advantage of the flexible options to spend one or even two years studying at the award-winning Reading UK campus. A virtual tour of the UK campus is available at https://www.reading.ac.uk/virtual-experience/
The option may particularly appeal to parents who wish to send their children to study in the UK but are concerned about travel restrictions and health and safety in the current pandemic situation. Reading town is conveniently only a 30-minute train ride from London.
Although the cost of university education is a major financial burden for many families, the investment can prove to be one of the smartest over the long-term in providing one’s child with the best start in their professional life.
Students at UoRM pay only 40% of the overall estimated costs compared with studying at the UK campus, taking into account fees and living expenses. You might also be surprised to learn that the fees are comparable with some other local private universities in Malaysia, and those with excellent academic results may even qualify for a High Achiever’s Scholarship worth up to RM33,840.
Those with IGCSE, SPM or equivalent can enrol on the 12-month International Foundation Programme (IFP). Those with A-levels and UEC qualifications can apply for direct entry to undergraduate degrees.
Students applying for April 2022 entry should contact UoRM as soon as possible to take advantage of early bird discounts.
