AS part of the HELP Education Group, HELP International School (HIS) was established in 2014, with an international team of experienced and passionate leaders and teachers.
Since its inception, the school has not only grown in size with a current enrolment of 1,300 students, but also expanded its offerings to continuously benefit its students and nurture the next generation of critical thinkers.
“The challenge of a learning organisation is to understand the context and constantly keep a pulse on the changes so that we can prepare our students for an ever-evolving world,” says HIS chief executive officer and founding principal, Dr Gerard Louis.
“Now more than ever, it is important to nurture and empower students to become the critical thinkers of tomorrow with the intellectual curiosity and skills to thrive.”
It is with this in mind that in August 2021, HIS strengthened its holistic STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) curriculum, with the aim to challenge educational norms and boundaries to provide an innovative and trans-disciplinary learning journey that has true relevance to the future of its students.
There was much excitement among the 10- to 12-year-olds in upper primary when science lab work and computer science were introduced to them, while secondary students are exposed to project based learning – enabling them to take greater ownership of their own learning.
With the commencement of the carefully curated enrichment programme in the secondary timetable, students aged 13 to 15 are able to select electives of their choice and interest, such as solar go-kart making, entrepreneurship, podcasting/vlogging, Code School Finland, sports leadership and coaching, Science Crest Awards, and percussion ensemble, to name a few. These electives allow students to explore the world beyond the classroom and discover hidden interests and talents.
For the A-Level students, the Sixth Form Super Curriculum Programme in HIS opens up their minds to new career possibilities such as computational physics, miniature architecture, stocks and investments (Bloomberg Labs), business and e-commerce, biomedical science and such.
Underpinning all of this is the development of the 10 HIS Masteries – intellectual, leadership, emotional, physical, creative, career, moral, social, technological and international mindedness. These masteries are firmly entrenched in all that the school does and has to offer, giving students the best education of their time.
In the last eight years, its alumni have made the HIS community proud by spreading their wings far and wide. From being accepted into renowned institutions such as University of Cambridge and Imperial College of London, to working with rice farmers in Myanmar to double their crop yield and income, HIS graduates continue to grow themselves and the community around them.
True to the school motto of “Life in All Its Fullness”, HIS creates a learning environment that inspires students to cultivate their unique talent and prepare them to contribute in purposeful ways to the world that they will inherit and shape.
