IN less than a decade OPPO’s ColorOS system which debuted in 2013 has amassed a strong following of over 500 million monthly active users, who provided a strong foundation for the brand to continuously tweak and explore new ways to bring simple, innovative, and intuitive interfaces to users worldwide.
Created to be integrated with stock Android 13 privacy features, ColorOS 13 design is based on OPPO’s Aquamorphic design philosophy and smart features for better connection and productivity.
As the latest edition, ColorOS 13 is here to engage users across the world with its concise and comfortable design as well as user-friendly features.
Aquamorphic design
OPPO’s Aquamorphic design is making its debut in the ColorOS 13 system with intuitive animations, aquamorphic visuals, adaptive layouts, and other features.
The Aquamorphic effect fuses water characteristics to create softer, more natural, and realistic effects in ColorOS 13.
According to OPPO director of software design Xi Zeng, to counteract the feeling of fatigue and add vitality into everyday life, OPPO has refreshed ColorOS 13 with an amazing design inspired by one of the greatest gifts from nature – water.
Privacy and security
OPPO has upped the ante on this department with new features that come with ColorOS 13.
> Auto pixelate: It can recognise and blur out profile photos and names in chat screenshots automatically with one tap by utilising OPPO’s self-developed algorithm model which processes local images precisely. This feature supports Messenger and WhatsApp.
> Private safe: This privacy feature is encrypted with a widely used AES algorithm that stores the encrypted files in a private directory, ensuring an extremely high level of security. Rest assured - the authentication standards on ColorOS 13 privacy and safety protections is based on authoritative standards such as ePrivacy, TRUSTe, ISO27701, and ISO27001
New theme palettes and Omoji
Sporting a neutral, inclusive, and welcoming blue colour for ColorOS 13, the theme was inspired by the subtle differences in colour on the water during sunrise and sunset.
With a whole host of new colour palettes to choose from, you can alter the look and feel of everything from your home screen. This stunning feature can be enjoyed by users when they switch their mobile phones to the new global theme palette and find all UI’s colours applied to it.
Meanwhile, users will be able to create vivid and interesting images as an “identity card in the digital world”, with Omoji to create a headshot on various social media apps or even show it on an always-on display mode.
ColorOS 13 supports Omoji avatars in OPPO’s contact list to personalise and make communication more fun.
Kid space
OPPO has designed and curated a kids space to ensure that they are equipped with the right features.
> Sitting position reminder: A reminder for kids who sit incorrectly when using the phone. The system will remind them to maintain a correct sitting position to improve posture and ease the burden on their spine and eyes, which is detected via the ambient light sensor.
> Ambient light reminder: Detecting light from the user's surroundings, it will send a reminder when a kid is using a device in a dark space to instead move to a bright environment to avoid harming their eyesight.
> Viewing distance reminder: If a kid is too close to the screen, the kid space system will issue a reminder to help them stay at the appropriate viewing distance to protect their vision.
Self-developed tech
Moreover, ColorOS 13 marks the debut of the dynamic computing engine, which is a system level solution developed in-house to deliver a smooth and stable system for an all-round improvement to fundamental user experience.
It comes with two major improvements including an increased battery life and the ability to keep more apps running in the background – making it possible to switch between multiple apps easily without experiencing any lag.
OPPO will be rolling out the ColorOS 13 in three batches, with the Find X5 Pro 5G going out first in Q32022. Another 22 models to follow closely in Q4 2022 for its second-rollout, which will include selected models from their Find series, Reno series and A/F/K series.
Meanwhile, the final rollout will conclude in the first-half of 2023 to include 25 models from the OPPO Pad, Reno series and A/F series.
