UCSI University celebrates years of hard work and achievements of its students during a three-day graduation ceremony held at Kuala Lumpur Campus, between Oct 11 and 13.
The 35th commencement celebrated the success, resilience and determination of UCSI’s graduates, especially throughout the two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are 3,919 students who officially participated in a procession at the convocation ceremony in the presence of UCSI University’s pro-chancellor Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, council chairman Datuk Peter Ng and vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir.
The University will also honour distinguished professors’ academic titles to prominent figures and senior professors who have excelled in their field.
Among the individuals who have given meritorious service to the university and the industry include Tunku Zain, who has been conferred with an honorary degree at the ceremony to mark the special occasion.
Academician Tan Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid, professor Dr Phang Siew Moi and professor Dr Ooi Keng Boon, were honoured respectively in their field of expertise with the title “Distinguished Professor”.

On the occasion of the convocation ceremony, UCSI University felicitated the Valedictorian and the pro-chancellor’s Gold Medal students for achieving exemplary academic performance in their respective faculties and programmes.
The Class of 2022 Valedictorian is Wong Jian Yao, who scored excellent academic results for Doctor of Medicine and is an exemplary student leader.
The pro-chancellor’s Gold Medalist is Lavinia Ng Yenyun, who studied for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hospitality Management at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, UCSI University Kuching Campus.
With 36 years of legacy in academic excellence, the university celebrated its 35th Convocation Day 2022 of 12 Faculties in various streams.
“My heartiest congratulations to all the class of 2022 graduates. All of us at UCSI could not be prouder of you,” said Datuk Hamisah.
“The last two years were certainly testing and most, if not all of you had to adapt to multiple disruptions in life. But, regardless of the obstacles in your path, you made it.
“Today, you join a long list of UCSI alumni who personify the power of purposeful education. We count among them, not one, but three Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia inductees, a growing number of entrepreneurs, well-respected scientists, doctors, engineers and some of Malaysia’s most prominent personalities in the media and entertainment industry.
“It’s now your time to make your mark, not only for yourself but for your family, friends, loved ones and society.”
UCSI University is Ranked 284 and ranked in the top 0.9% of the world's universities by QS World University Ranking 2023. Its students are annually selected to advance high-impact research at top international universities such as Harvard University, Imperial College and the University of Queensland, to name a few.
In a recent survey by the Higher Education Ministry, all its programmes in the exercise received a 100% employability score. This indicates that UCSI University’s graduates remain marketable and recognised in the industry. The graduates are very much sought after by both local and national firms.
As of today, the university has over 4,600 global companies that provide structured internship programmes and job opportunities to its students.
