Huawei’s new Mate50 series comes to Malaysia, can now support Google Apps

The Mate50 series smartphone comes with a number of new innovative features and can now also support Google applications.

MANY people used to steer away from Huawei smartphones due to the fact that you wouldn’t be able to use Google services on them. Now, that will be a thing of the past, as Google applications will be available on Huawei Malaysia’s newly launched Mate50 series.

Ten years since the Mate series was first introduced, Huawei has now released the new Mate50 series that comes with industry-leading innovative technologies, including the capability to use Google applications.

You won’t have to worry about being unable to access your Google accounts anymore, as Huawei has made it possible for you to use Google applications via the Lighthouse app, which is available to download on Huawei’s AppGallery.

All you’d have to do is install the Lighthouse app on your Mate50 series smartphone, open the app and add your Google account by clicking the Settings button on the top right corner, before signing into your account.

Then, you can go to the AppGallery, search any Google app and install it hassle-free. And this will work for all Google apps such as Google Maps, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Meet, Gmail,Youtube and more. You’ll even be able to upload and download files seamlessly, as well as sync and backup your data to Google Cloud.

This capability, however, is only supported on newer devices (post 2021) that run on Malaysian software including the Mate Xs 2, nova10 series, nova Y90, nova 8i and MatePad devices such as the MatePad10.4, MatePad Pro11, MatePadT10, MatePad SE, MatePad Pro 12.6.

If you were worried about installation security when downloading these apps via Huawei’s AppGallery, the tech company has got you covered. That’s because the AppGallery on all the Mate50 series models have a sophisticated four-step security system in place for virus scanning, fraud detection, malicious behaviour identification and privacy protection.

The security scan can also be done manually with just one click by accessing the “Security Check” tab on the AppGallery.

That’s not all that’s new about the Mate50 series either, as the device also comes with a number of key innovative features that support the modern smartphone user’s daily needs.

One such feature is the industry-defining camera on the Mate50 series that comes with variable aperture. The smartphone’s camera will have a F1.4 large aperture, with a 10-size adjustable physical aperture, that works with Huawei’s XD Fusion Pro image engine.

This model will also be the first smartphone to be equipped with Huawei’s own mobile imaging technology, called XMAGE, which is said to provide ultra-clear images. Also, the Huawei Mate50 Pro recently got first place in the DXOMark Smartphone Camera Ranking as well.

Another key feature is the advanced low-battery state called Super Energy Boosting, which is an “emergency mode” of sorts that activates when the battery level falls to 1%. In this mode, the Mate50 series is able to extend its standby time for more than two hours, or for 12 minutes of call time.

The phone is also even lighter than its predecessor despite being equipped with a larger battery capacity of 4700mAh.

Additionally, the Mate50 series will be the first Huawei smartphone that runs the new EMUI 13 user interface (UI) system. This new UI comes with a very handy feature called SuperStorage, which is able to compress rarely-used apps and remove duplicate files – whether it be photos or documents – in an imperceptible way, preserving up to 20GB of storage space.

The UI’s SuperHub also allows users to temporarily store images, documents and text, with the capability of sharing them in batches, with free and easy transfers between apps and devices.

The Mate50 Pro Orange Vegan Leather version, on the other hand, comes with Kunlun glass, which consists of 10 quadrillion-level nanocrystals and is said to be 10-times stronger than ordinary glass, making it more resistant to scratches, falls and other impacts.
