OPPO recently held its annual OPPO INNO Day 2022 last Wednesday, with the technology event being held in an online format which was streamed live.

Themed “Empowering a Better Future”, the event showcased the electronics company’s perseverance in enriching its smart initiatives – smart health, smart productivity, smart entertainment and smart learning – to deliver more INNOvative products and build a more inclusive future for all.

OPPO Find N2

One of the biggest hits of INNO Day 2022 was the presentation of the OPPO Find N2 second-generation foldable smartphone.

The Find N2 is just 7.4mm thin when open and applies the “golden ratio” for perfectly balanced one or two-handed use – when it is opened or closed – so you can grasp the phone with one hand while it is folded and enjoy an immersive experience with the large screen when it is unfolded.

Being a foldable phone, many would be concerned about the smartphone’s crease level. However, users won’t have to worry about the Find N2 as it comes with the industry’s shallowest crease level.

The crease is almost invisible from most angles and will result in fewer visual interruptions, as the width and visibility of the crease along the centre of Find N2’s inner display is reduced by 67% compared to its predecessor, the Find N.

When you fold the Find N2, there is no hinge gap on the smartphone either, as OPPO’s second generation Flexion hinge features a precisely engineered cam and spring design which ensures that the folding and unfolding mechanism feels smooth and secure. The Find N2 can hold a position at any angle between 45 and 125 degrees.

Creating the perfect hinge is one of the most challenging aspects of making a foldable phone which is why OPPO began development of its own hinge system – Flexion hinge – in 2018.

It took the company four years to perfect the formula and refine its system, which ultimately became the Flexion hinge on the Find N.

For the Find N2, OPPO has reduced the Flexion hinge’s size, while simultaneously strengthening it to create a smaller, thinner, yet stronger hinge system.

The Find N2 overall specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform, 14-centimetre AMOLED main display with LTPO, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus (front and back), 4520mAh battery and 5G support.

The smartphone comes with an advanced camera that is matched with OIS and features Sony’s powerful new IMX890 sensor. It also comes with OPPO’s latest advancements in computational photography that further enhances dynamic range and reduces noise.

It can focus on close-up objects with its 48 megapixel ultra-wide camera, making it a two-in-one macro and ultra-wide camera perfect for landscapes.

Engineered directly from OPPO, the Find N2 incorporates the best features of its predecessor – the award-winning OPPO Find N – bringing users immersive smart experiences through its new technologies like the OHealth H1, MariSilicon Y and Air Glass 2.

As part of its smart initiatives, OPPO has invested a significant amount of resources into developing its smart health technology and unveiled the first product under its new healthcare sub-brand OHealth at INNO Day 2022.

The OHealth H1 family health monitor combines six health data monitoring functions intended for family use into a single device, which will help its users to collect accurate health data and take better care of the health of their entire family.

These include functions such as blood oxygen measurements, electrocardiogram (ECG), heart and lung auscultation, as well as heart rate, body temperature and sleep tracking measurements.

The OHealth H1 is a super-light device that weighs just 95g, features aesthetic rounded edges and a concentric oval design, which make it easier for users to integrate regular health measurements into their daily routine and take the device with them anywhere, anytime.

During the event, OPPO also unveiled the second member of the MariSilicon family – the all-new MariSilicon Y Bluetooth audio SoC.

The MariSilicon Y introduces a newly-developed Pro Bluetooth Pack that uses the most advanced N6RF processing technology to increase the bluetooth bandwidth by a massive 50%, as compared to the highest spec bluetooth SoC’s on the market.

The device can transmit an unprecedented 24-bit/192kHz ultra-clear lossless audio through bluetooth for the first time ever, providing users with all the benefits of wireless connectivity with the same audio quality as a wired connection.

Empowered by MariSilicon Y, users can enjoy top digital audio quality through wireless bluetooth earbuds and headphones.

OPPO also demonstrated its latest assisted reality glass, the OPPO Air Glass 2, which features a super-lightweight yet robust design that includes the world’s first resin optical waveguide lens, developed by the company.

These lenses will support vision correction and further customisation, making it almost indistinguishable from regular eyeglasses.

Users will also be able to make phone calls, conduct real-time translation, provide location-based navigation and even convert voice to text for people with hearing impairments with the OPPO Air Glass 2.

In May this year, OPPO launched the OPPO Research Institute Innovation Accelerator to seek more solutions in accessible technology and digital health, with the help of technology professionals and entrepreneurs.

In late August, the company announced the top 10 proposals selected from 536 entries from 39 countries and regions. The 10 teams were each awarded a grant of approximately RM204,010, along with opportunities for investment, technological support, commercial partnerships and global promotion.
