Sunway TES assists students to be high achievers with multiple Top in the World and Top in Malaysia scorers.
ACCA students from the Sunway TES Centre for Accountancy Excellence (CAE) proved once again that to be a top scorer locally and on a global platform is not merely a dream.
As a testament to the continued success of their quality of education, Sunway TES students acquired the Top in the World and six Top in Malaysia positions for the ACCA and ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) December 2022 examination sitting.
Notably, top scorer Lim Hui Ning triumphed as Top in the World and Top in Malaysia for ACCA in the Financial Management subject with outstanding complete (100) marks – displaying a profound mastery of the subject.
Lim's academic success has been an ongoing achievement since 2021 with five Top in the World prizes and two Top in Malaysia prizes to date.
Lim secured the Top In the World position for Financial Management in the recent ACCA examinations.
“I felt so surprised when I found out I had acquired the Top in the World position in Financial Management. I recall the days of how much effort I put in and finally, my efforts paid off.
“The ACCA programme has helped me to become more disciplined with good time management to keep up with the progress.
“Not only that, I learnt to be more appreciative and feel grateful to people around me who always support me and care for me,” said Lim, adding that Sunway TES CAE ensures students can sharpen their competencies and skills, on top of having dedicated and supportive lecturers.
“After I graduate, I aim to work in one of the Big Four firms and gain practical experience as well as
learn technical skills in my profession.
“This award will always serve as a reminder to always be a diligent and disciplined person,” she said.
Another stellar student, Nicole Tan Ze Nee, surpassed ACCA Affiliates (Graduates) as Malaysia’s second Top Affiliate for obtaining an average score of 80 in four ACCA Strategic Professional level subjects.
Currently working at Deloitte, Tan is no stranger to winning accolades. She won Top in Malaysia prizes in 2021 and the Top In the World prize in 2022.
“After receiving my first award, Sunway TES arranged a meeting for prize winners to speak with Deloitte's human resources director to learn more about the different roles in the company. That was a valuable opportunity that has helped me in securing my current job,” she said.
Top-scoring students in the local arena
Ain, Jia Jin and Chin secured their Top in Malaysia positions in ACCA and ACCA FIA examinations.
Top in Malaysia achievers for ACCA include Koh Yik Pin for Financial Reporting, Ain Nurkhairina Khairuddin for Strategic Business Reporting, Yong Jin Xian for Advanced Performance Management and Tan Jia Jin for Advanced Taxation.
Ain plans to apply the knowledge gained from ACCA by working as an auditor in one of the Big Four firms – this will soon be a reality for her.
“After receiving this award, I received an offer to work for one of the Big Four companies as an auditor.
“Sunway TES and ACCA is one of, if not the most, prestigious centre for accountancy and has upheld its pre-eminence for years.
“In addition, our future careers are promised, given the collaboration Sunway TES has with firms, in addition to the Big Four,” she said.
As for Yong, the knowledge and skills gained will be used to contribute to the current organisation.
“With the ACCA qualification, I aim to further my career and become a leader in finance and business.
“Studying at Sunway has prepared me well for the ACCA exams. The commitment and passion displayed by the lecturers are contagious and would certainly motivate students into loving the subject and to excel,” Yong said.
Meanwhile, Chin Ling Xuan secured the Top in Malaysia for Maintaining Financial Records in the ACCA FIA examinations.
“After completing the ACCA FIA, I aim to continue my studies at the ACCA level. Receiving the award gives me the confidence to pursue this course as well as determines a clearer direction and pathway for me” said Chin.
