Nostalgia Raya décor at the Curve is all about balik kampung.

Themed Nostalgia Raya, the Curve’s Raya décor revokes the balik kampung feel, with a life-sized rumah kampung complete with verandah and furnished living area – depicting a typical village setting in Malaysia

HARI RAYA is celebrated as a joyful occasion after fulfilling a holy month of fasting during Ramadan.

During Ramadan, Muslims across the country are filled with a longing to return to their hometowns, or balik kampung, for Hari Raya to reunite with loved ones.

Inspired by the nostalgia of cozy kampung homes set amid serene paddy fields, the Curve mall in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, this year has recreated a setting to rekindle Malaysians’ fondest balik kampung memories.

The centrepiece of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri décor in the Curve’s Centre Court is a life-sized three dimensional rumah kampung showcasing traditional architecture complete with verandah and furnished living area, depicting a typical village setting in Malaysia.

The rumah kampung is nestled among a mock paddy field with decorative touches like scarecrows or orang-orang and a pangkin which is commonly used as a gathering point for villagers, that transform the Capital Centre Court into a charming Malay village scene.

Themed “Nostalgia Raya”, the Curve’s Raya décor extends into the Fashion Court, Fashion Walk, and The Street, for visitors to be immersed in the dazzle of fairy lights and hanging Raya décor.

Shoppers can experience the wonders of the Raya campaign at the Curve until April 24.

“This Raya, we would like to remind Malaysians of the value and importance of embracing our multifaceted culture as well as tradition, which is often forgotten in our fast-paced lifestyles,” says Boustead Properties Bhd property management and investment senior general manager Jazmi Kamarudin.

“Our Raya campaign aims to share the message of hope, simple joys and connecting with loved ones with all Malaysians.

“To our Muslim patrons, we hope it takes them down memory lane and they get to experience the warmth of balik kampung and the age-old traditions that are a part of the journey."

Jazmi shared that in keeping with tradition, the Curve’s signature musical dance performance is back to entertain shoppers.

“This is one of the not-to-be-missed shows at the Curve which is specially choreographed for each Raya celebration and always enjoyed by adults and children alike.”

The Joget Nostalgia Musical will be held each weekend and on public holidays, with shows at 2pm and 5.15pm.

For more Raya joy, visitors can savour delectable cookies and shop for Raya merchandise, including apparel, accessories, and home decor items at the Curve’s Raya Bazaar.

Additionally, there will be a booth operated by local artiste Amy Search, offering an array of menswear and other merchandise. There will be a meet-and-greet session with Amy Search on April 15 (6pm) at the Centre Court, Ground Floor.
