WITH the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, we Malaysians know that the joyful Raya celebration is just around the corner.
Shopping at Sunway Carnival Mall is truly an amazing experience as we have prepared various entertaining events and exclusive Riang Ria redemptions to enhance your shopping experience.
With the theme, Cahaya Raya, we celebrate the upcoming festival with various special activities until May 1.
Shoppers will be entertained with dance performances.
There are Malay traditional dance performances specially lined up to entertain the shoppers on April 15 and 22 at 2pm.
Additionally, there are Hari Raya interactive traditional dance performances on April 16 and 23 at 6pm.
Besides that, there are “Raya Art and Craft Kids” workshops to be held on April 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 3pm.
On top of this, there are also Gamelan performances to be held on April 16 and 23 at 2pm.
The inspiration of Cahaya Raya came from the lighting up of oil lamps during Ramadan; a beautiful and meaningful tradition that serves to remind Muslims of the importance of faith, family and community during this special time of the year.
It is also to create a festive atmosphere and bring people together, particularly in the evenings when families and communities gather to break the fast.
The soft glow of the lamps is also seen as a symbol of hope and guidance.
As you step into the heart of the mall, you will notice elements of contemporary Islamic motifs and illuminated structures with concepts of geometry and light. These represent diversity which encompasses the richness of culture and uniqueness among us.
Diamond shaped ketupats are the centrepiece of the decorations at Sunway Carnival Mall.
You will also see diamond shaped ketupats as our centrepiece at the mall. Ketupat is often shared and enjoyed with loved ones during special occasions; with a humbling message that ties into the act of asking for forgiveness during Hari Raya.
The Cahaya Raya decor is designed where shoppers can snap photos and to discover various surprises at different zones.

Also, shoppers too can visit the “Agrofiesta Aidilfitri”, a collaboration with Federal Agricultural Marketing Agency (FAMA), located at UG concourse to complete their Raya shopping. “Agrofiesta Aildilfitri” comprised of 22 booths with a variety of assortment cookies, local delicacies, accessories and many more for you to choose from until April 21.
Aligned with Sunway's dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG #12 which focuses on Responsible Consumption and Production; we have created charming mini lamp shades using upcycled cans collected from our F&B tenant.
By transforming waste into art, we celebrate life amidst a colourful display, while also promoting the idea of waste reduction. Through this, we aim to raise public awareness about impacts of litter on the environment.
