Shoppers throng Gurney Plaza to check out the mall’s beautiful Raya decoration in collaboration with Disney.

TO evoke the spirit of Raya, shoppers can visit their favourite CapitaLand malls in Malaysia and check out its series of Raya-themed festive celebrations with picturesque decoration set-ups.

Ria Raya, Gurney Plaza, Georgetown, Penang

If you ever want to travel back in time to witness the golden era of the Malaysian film and entertainment industry, shoppers can check out the Gurney Plaza’s Raya decoration from now until May 1.

Vintage car enthusiasts will be in for a treat with classic cars display, showcasing the iconic Volkswagen’s classics – the Beetle and Kombi.

While strolling down the Centre Atrium of Gurney Plaza, shoppers will be enthralled to see their favourite childhood cartoon characters on display - the classic Mickey Mouse, Princess Jasmine, Toy Story’s Woody and many more. This is made possible with Gurney Plaza’s partnership with Disney in conjunction with their 100th year anniversary, themed ‘Wonderfully Festive’.

Among others, there are Disney Wonderfully Festive Pop-up stores and activities stationed at the Gurney Plaza’s Centre Atrium until May 1. There are also Raya Arts and Crafts by Greentopia at its Extension Wing until April 24.

This Raya, Queensbay Mall exudes royal charm with a recreation of the ancient Courtyard Palace, a unique architectural design showcasing the beauty and authenticity of Malay heritage.

Shoppers will have a chance to marvel at the beautiful golden-bronze courtyard palace replica, placed at the mall’s Central Atrium.

Accompanied by the melodious sounds of gamelan at the background and colourful dance performances – Boria Penang and Tarian Canggung, Queensbay Mall is an ideal venue to shop for your Raya goodies, and of course, a place to snap dreamy OOTD photos for your Instagram.

There is Raya Bazaar at the Main Concourse (Zone 1, 2 and 3) until May 7 for shoppers to select their favourite Raya attires, assorted cookies, fashion accessories, bags and shoes, while they can also enjoy traditional dance performances there on April 23.

Inspired by the famous ‘Ekspres Senandung Malam’, 3 Damansara revels in the Raya mood with its unique concept this year.

A replica of the famous KTM train sits at the mall’s Centre Concourse with a myriad of activities lined up to usher in the festive season.

Shoppers will get first-hand experience of painting batik and learning a thing or two on how to make their own pelita.There are DIY Raya Batik Workshop (April 22, 2pm-4pm); Coin Bank Painting Workshop (April 22 and 23, 11am-6pm) and DIY Pelita Making Workshop (April 22 and 23, 11am-6pm).

Not only that, but shoppers will also be delighted to immerse themselves with the raw, beautiful sounds of gamelan and dance to the beat of Zapin, a well-known classical Malay dance.

Additionally, there are also Kids Baking Classes at the Centre Concourse on April 22 and 23 (4pm-5.30pm).

This Raya, Melawati Mall gears up for a majestic celebration with its extravagant ‘Marrakech’ themed decorations.

The ground floor is aesthetically pleasing to the eye with stunning Moroccan stage decoration, beautiful brass light fixtures and vibrant colourful booths.

The mall has also lined up various activities for shoppers until May 1 which includes performances by famous local artists, display of latest Raya attires by local fashion designers and a chance for shoppers to relive their childhood memories with traditional games, namely ‘congkak’ and ‘batu seremban’.

Step into a surreal, majestic garden resembling a ‘Singgahsana’ at the Level 3 Centre Court of The Mines. Themed ‘Majestika Raya’, shoppers can stop by to capture beautiful selfie moments and with their loved ones.
