OVER the past decade, the automotive industry has undergone a profound transformation in the attempt to switch to more sustainable forms of transportation.
Great Wall Motor (GWM) showcased its commitment to electrification – which is the conversion to the use of electrical power – by unveiling a range of new energy vehicles at the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) 2023.
GWM is positioning itself as a major player in the race to be the next electric vehicle (xEV) leader, with the new vehicles coming from its five major brands – Haval, Tank, Ora, Poer and Wey.
With the latest in intelligent technologies on display, Auto Shanghai 2023 was an opportunity like no other to get a taste of the future in sustainable transportation.
GWM invited over 300 distributors and media professionals from more than 60 countries across multiple regions to experience the company’s intelligent Neighbourhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) and technologies during the exhibition.
GWM’s vice president and head of the international market Parker Shi highlighted the company’s transition to new energy vehicles and the significance of Auto Shanghai 2023 in showcasing the company’s achievements – which include over 15 new energy vehicles.
“GWM will rely on the forest ecosystem to accelerate technology iteration and product upgrading, as well as provide global users with more high-quality and intelligent new-energy products,” says Shi.
At the exhibition, GWM Haval introduced its all-new star product lineup and the new energy SUV dubbed “Fierce Dragon Max”, which made its world premiere in the Chinese market.
The first of its kind, it is equipped with the revolutionary Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4WD) technology and features a fresh design concept that radiates youthfulness and a futuristic allure.
GWM’s new pickup, a 6x6 version of GWM Poer, was launched alongside the large high-performance hybrid pickup Poer Shanhai PHEV/HEV.
Meanwhile, GWM Tank demonstrated two new NEVs at the exhibition. The Tank400 PHEV made its world debut, while the luxury off-road new energy SUV Tank500 PHEV opened its worldwide pre-sale.
Leading the brand to the high-end intelligent NEV market, GWM Wey released its first MPV model – Wey Gaoshan PHEV – and showcased the six-seater electric SUV Lanshan PHEV. GWM Ora also released two pure electric models.
GWM also showcased significantly innovative technologies, such as the 3.0T V6 engine + 9HAT+P2 platform, Hi4, Tank platform and the proprietary 6x6 super off-road platform.
The company’s continuous technological innovations is a testament to its unwavering commitment to prioritise customers and comprehend the needs of consumers in the new energy era.
