AFTER completing secondary school, Malaysian youths find themselves having to make a decision on what to pursue next.
With shifting job markets and a vast array of choices, it can be a daunting experience to choose what path to follow, with many uncertainties in what lies ahead.
For many youths, concerns about financial limitations can dampen their excitement, as they may face barriers that prevent them from pursuing their dreams.
To address these challenges and empower youths to achieve their full potential by building a strong foundation, Taylor’s College is organising a Pre-University (Pre-U) Info Day for students who have completed their SPM and Cambridge IGCSE.
There will also be an exclusive scholarship talk by Petronas and the Public Service Department (JPA), whereby students can get insights on the application and interview process for the prestigious scholarships offered by both organisations.
Taylor’s College Cambridge A-level student Meor Emir Iskandar, who is a recipient of the JPA scholarship, says that he decided to enrol at Taylor’s College because of the institution’s reputation for academic excellence and its supportive learning environment.
“I was also drawn to the extracurricular activities offered at Taylor’s, which allowed me to explore my interests and develop my skills,” he says.
“It has been a challenging but rewarding experience, as I’ve had the opportunity to learn from experienced lecturers and engage with a diverse community of students.”
Meor’s coursemate Emir Rayyan received the Petronas scholarship and currently plans to pursue his undergraduate studies in the UK or US.
Emir explains that the University Placement Service (UPS) at Taylor’s has been very helpful in answering the many questions on his mind when applying for his studies abroad.
He added that organised initiatives such as UK and US Mini Fairs provided students with resources and information to make informed choices about the universities overseas.
Other than external scholarships, Taylor’s College awards scholarships to deserving students such as Tiffany Wong, who is a recipient of the Taylor’s College Merit Scholarship, and Muhammad Aliff Feizal, who received the Taylor’s College Talent Scholarship.
Wong shares that campus life at Taylor’s is enjoyable and meaningful, as the institution encourages students to go beyond the classroom via many events and campaigns.
“Receiving this scholarship enabled me to meet people from different walks of life, as I got to mingle with them and listen to their stories,” she says.
The Taylor’s College Pre-U Info Day will take place on May 20 (10am-5pm) at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus.
There will also be a forum with Taylor’s College head of schools, who will talk about the pre-university courses offered, such as Cambridge A-levels, SACE International, Diploma, Foundation and ACCA programmes.
Taylors’ UPS will also dive into the various pathways to pursue undergraduate studies overseas during the forum as well.
Students can meet with an education counsellor for personalised guidance.
