Recognition for industry commitment

IN the span of 28 years, Optimax Eye Specialist Centre has grown to become well known in the eye care sector, providing a full spectrum of eye care treatments across many branches throughout Malaysia.

The eye specialist chain has received many awards throughout its years of service, but the one recognition that stands out is its entry in the Malaysia Book of Records this year for most number of refractive eye treatments provided in Malaysia.

This accolade serves as a testament to Optimax's unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional eye care services and further solidifies its position as a leading eye specialist centre in the country.

Other recent awards include Malaysia Health & Wellness Brand Award 2023 and Global Health Award 2023.

Excellent eye care services

Optimax is regarded as among the pioneers of laser vision correction in Malaysia, initially performing Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) or Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) procedures among its earliest patients.

However, with gradual improvements in technology in laser eye surgery, the specialist chain began offering femtosecond laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis (Femto-LASIK) surgeries, as well as the latest in laser technology in the form of The ZEISS SMILE (formerly known as ReLEx SMILE) keyhole technology, which takes laser eye surgery one step further by making it even more gentle, quick, and safe.

Optimax is the only eye specialist centre in Malaysia that offers all generations of laser refractive surgeries, from Trans-Epithelial Surface Ablation (TESA) and Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) to Femto-LASIK and ZEISS SMILE.

Other services offered at the centres include Implantable Contact Lens (ICL), and Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS), general eye exams, cataract and glaucoma treatment, refractive surgery and procedures for the retina.

Such innovations within the industry enabled Optimax to offer its patients better visual outcomes with fewer post-operative complications, better comfort after treatment and quicker recovery times.

Each Optimax Eye Specialist facility uses the latest equipment and is staffed by skilled ophthalmologists and eye care specialists who constantly prioritise patient safety and satisfaction.

One area of eye care that is currently in focus is the treatment of Myopia among children, otherwise known as short-sightedness. Though the condition cannot be cured, it can be slowed down or prevented from worsening.

Optimax is the first Myopia Management Centre in Malaysia that offers a complete range of myopia treatments. Optimax uses the Myopia Master machine to estimate and measure children’s axial length growth over the next five years. The Myopia Master equipment helps to slow down myopia and accelerate the growth of the eye, preventing a child’s vision from deteriorating further and lowering the occurrence of serious, lifelong eye diseases caused by extreme myopia.

Enhanced accessible eye care

In its tireless effort to give back to the public, Optimax has taken major steps in ensuring that more people have access to high-quality eye treatment.

The availability of Optimax Eye Specialist Centres in key locations around Malaysia has obviated the need for lengthy commutes to larger cities.

By emphasising accessibility, the eye specialist chain is able to connect with a wider demographic and leave a positive impact on those in need of eye care.
